A beautiful avenue of plane trees leads on up to Barland. The main house and cottage are thatched and extremely beautiful, set in a lush English country garden.
Barland gives you the option of Bed and Breakfast or self-catering along with rest, relaxation, privacy, tranquillity, swimming, tennis, walking, warmth and comfort in an exquisite countryside.

| Barland is well situated away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to the action of the Meander. We are ten minutes from Midmar Dam, fifteen minutes away from Pietermaritzburg and an hour and a half from the Southern and Central Berg (an easy day trip). Durban is only an hour and a quarter away. - ideal for day trips! |

Barland welcomes overnight and weekend guests.
“Rose Cottage” is a very pretty thatched cottage with its own private entrance, and pretty fenced garden. The cottage consists of one bedroom with a double bed, and two single day beds in the lounge area. DSTV is provided. There is a dining room, kitchen and the bathroom consists of a very spacious shower, hand basin and toilet. The kitchen is spacious with a gas stove, microwave and fridge/freezer as well as everything you will need in a self catering cottage. A deck overlooks the garden and the surrounding hills, perfect for those afternoon sundowners. A Webber is provided. Please provide your own charcoal and firelighters.
For those who enjoy walking and Hiking, the farm and banks of the Umgeni River are the ideal setting for walks and Bird-Watching.
Only ten minutes away, Midmar Dam is great for picnics, braai, cycling and water-sport activities such as sailing and canoeing. There are a number of Golf Courses nearby.
To the North, South, East and West lies the multitudes of Arts & Crafts of the Midlands Meander...so take to the country and absorb the culture.
The ingredients for an English breakfast are offered provided they are requested timeously. These ingredients will be left in the fridge the night before. (Bacon; Egg; Sausage; Toast; Cereal; yoghurt; Tea & Coffee and Juice). The cost of the Breakfast is R30,00 per person.
Parking is secure and is self-contained with a private entrance. A tennis court is available and a fenced in swimming pool, so you can enjoy a splash in the pool for those hot summer days. |
