We have a large variety of music to entertain everyone. The dancefloor lures the more excitable and keeps them busy for most of the evening. A variety of bar games are available: Snooker, pool, darts and more.Barry sings and plays the acoustic guitar and guests are welcome to join in and sing-a-long.
There is a TV lounge for those who prefer a quieter evening. We have an informal library of books and magazines
CUISINE
Breakfast : Fruit juice; Fruit; selection of cereals; Yoghurt; Porridge; Breakfast dish; Eggs; Bacon; Toast; jam; preserves; Tea/coffee/rooibos.
Dinner: Soup; Entrée; Main course with seasonal vegetables; Dessert; Tea/coffee/rooibos; Cheese & biscuits.
The a-la-carte Pub-lunch Menu:Steaks; Marinated ribs (Best in SA); Calamari or Fish & chips; Burgers; Plain & toasted sandwiches; Hot dogs; Salads; Tea/coffee/rooibos.
We expand this menu in the season and offer specials.
By arrangement we cater for vegetarians.
On Saturday evening we serve our Traditional Seafood Extravaganza

Crazy Golf - the course is on the hotel premises.
Golf - there is an eleven hole golf course near the hotel.
Tennis - the tennis court is on the hotel premises.
Swimming - We have an adult pool and a kiddies pool and there is a tidal pool in front of the hotel. The swimming beach and lagoon are a short walk from the hotel.
Indoor Games - a variety of board games, Pool, Darts.
NATURE TRAIL
Trevor Wigley, a retired Transkei trader, who is exceptionally well versed in Xhosa tradition and culture and has a wide knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area conducts this trail for his own account. The trail consists of boating, walking, boating, walking up the Qolora river and through the riverine bush and forest where the birdlife is abundant. You will see and learn about the different trees and plants, and how the Xhosa people use them for “muti” (traditional medicine). You will pass through a big gorge which is also part of the Falklands fault. The trail takes three hours and is not onerous. Part of the fee which you pay goes to the local people who assist Trevor.
CULTURE TRAIL
Trevor takes you to a Sangoma’s (traditional healer’s) kraal where you learn about the traditional Xhosa lifestyle and see a demonstration of how the sangoma plies her trade. You will also be treated to a display of Xhosa dancing by the children.
HISTORICAL TRAIL
In 1856 - 1857, as result of prophecies the Xhosa nation slaughtered 400,000 cattle and destroyed their crops in the firm belief that their dead ancestors would arise and bring with them new cattle and crops, and drive the white man back into the sea from whence he had come. Visit the pools of prophesy and learn the full story of how 50,000 Xhosas starved to death.
FISHING
SeaGulls boasts excellent fishing waters including Rock, Surf and River fishing. The Qolora Lagoon is fished by Salt Water Fly Fishermen. A large variety of fish are regularly taken along the SeaGulls coastline, with the best fishing right in front of the hotel, which is only footsteps from the beach. Species include Bluefish (bronze bream), Galjoen (damba), Zebra (five finger bream), Kob (daga salmon), Leervis (garrick), Pignose Grunter (white steenbras)…..to mention a few.
Natural bait is in abundance - sand cracker(sandprawn), Redbait, octopus, etc. Other baits are available at the hotel viz. Pilchards, squid, pink prawn.
GUEST SERVICES
Telephones
We only have two incoming lines so if you need to use the phone, we would appreciate it if you could keep your calls short.
Cell Phones
Cell phone reception is available in certain areas around the hotel. Reception staff can held identify these areas for you.
Morning Coffee/Tea
Supplies are placed in your room when it is made up. Please do not use the kettles provided for anything other than heating water. If you are needing something heated please enquire at reception.
Car Washing
If you require your car to be washed, please arrange this through reception. Please do not approach the staff directly as they are given specific tasks to perform daily. Please enquire at reception with regards to the cost.
Laundry
Laundry lists and bags are available in each room. If you require laundry to be done, please fill out the list, sign it and hand it and the laundry bag in at reception. Your laundry needs to be handed in before 9h00 for same day service.
Hair-driers
A limited number are available on request. Please inquire at reception.
Ice
If we have a surplus of ice we will make this available, for a small fee, to guests who may need it.
Shop
Please inquire at reception for anything that you may need.
Nannies
Please inquire at reception with regards to availability, cost and hours. The nannies are paid direct by you.
Fire
In the unlikely event of a fire please vacate your room immediately.
ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES
Horse Riding
Horse Riding is available at Kei Mouth. There are two stables which offer horse riding facilities. Please enquire at reception for details.
Tennis
Tennis Racquets and balls are available at reception for a deposit.
Golf
Trennery’s has a 11 hole golf course which is open to Seagulls guests. Green fees must be paid at Trennery’s.
Crazy Golf
Putters and balls are available at reception for a deposit.
Darts
Available in the pub. No small children may play darts.
Snooker/Pool
In the pub. No persons under the age of 18 are allowed to play on the table.
Dancing & Music
Whilst the pub is open there is an entertainer who will play music and perform.
Television
The TV lounge is situated in the main building. This cannot be retuned as all the TV’s in the hotel are controlled through the TV Lounge. Please request staff to make any changes you may need.
Fishing & Bait
There is a fishermans freezer behind the kitchen in the freezer and coldroom control room. Please remember that any items that you have not put there belong to someone else.
Walking Trails
Trevor’s Trails is a must for nature enthusiasts. Enquire at reception.
Medical
There is a doctor and registered nurse in Kei Mouth and clinics at Qolora & Kei Mouth. |
